‘The female gaze’ is a body of work that explores the representation of women through the body and hyper sexualisation. The work features elements of a disjointed female body, examining how women are often fragmented into isolated parts rather than seen as whole individuals. It reflects on the pervasive nature of hyper sexualisation that surrounds us by referencing the idea of the “perfect woman,” this body of work reconstructs this ideal in an imperfect, distorted way, challenging traditional beauty standards and exposing their artificiality. Through this tension between idealisation and disruption, the work questions who defines perfection and invites viewers to reconsider the expectations placed upon the female body.
