ABOUT

Challenging preconceptions of everyday objects

Instantly recognisable everyday objects and our preconceived understanding of them become commonplace and cease to hold our interest in todays world. Dis connect is about detaching from our accepted environment and connecting with the unlimited possibilities of what it could be.

In it’s objective, dis connect challenges the viewer to reconsider three pieces of typical household furniture: a table, a chair and a rug. Taking mealtime as the setting for the exercise, the furniture takes influence from a simple balanced dish that is texturally and deliciously arranged and balanced.

Pastel, lusciously sliced bacon draped over fluffy, soft potatoes will inform the structure of the table. The chair will be aesthetically influenced by contrasting vivid cabbage. While a suave, smooth flowing parsley sauce is conveyed through a the form of a rug.
