Ella's work

About Ella

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing in response to your vacancy for a Junior Graphic Designer as I believe that I meet the requirements outlined in the job description. I have been working for over seven years and I have been in my current position at Bloomsbury Publishing for over eighteen months. My job role includes solely designing the large scale visuals for our bookfairs as well as creating content for online and print including gifs, headers, advertisements and invitations. I also design book covers, including finishes such as Spot UV and embossing as well as designing book interiors.

I am also responsible for creating 3D visuals and flat templates for dumpbins and other promotional material in our overseas stores particularly in the USA and Australia. As a result I have significant experience using InDesign, Photoshop, Microsoft Office, Keynote and uploading book covers and other content to the CMS that we use to archive all of our printed material.

I work in a small team of five designers and liaise with illustrators and authors as well as our internal departments including the entire Children's Editorial team, Marketing, Production and Social Media. Due to the fast paced nature of my working environment I am able to work to extremely tight deadlines and I am responsible for managing my own workload in an efficient and orderly manner as well as working on projects from conception to completion.

Prior to working at Bloomsbury I had completed my BA (Hons) in Illustration and Animation at Kingston University. I also completed my Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at Chelsea College of Art studying Visual Communication.

Throughout my studies I have worked at The Conran Shop and Selfridges.

Although my previous job was at Apple. I was responsible for managing a team of Specialist's in the Kingston store as Setup Host. Due to having highly positive customer feedback a role was created for me as I had already proven myself to be an efficient sales person I wanted to put my technical ability to good use and teach customers how to use Apple software. As Setup Champion I was responsible for helping customers setup and use their Apple devices for the first time, setting up e-mails and answering any queries. As a result I was also part of the Workshop Team and as Host I was responsible for teaching classes of six how to use programs such as Keynote, Numbers and Pages as well as how to use creative software such a iMovie, iPhoto and Aperture.

I am confident that I would make an effective contribution to the team and look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Ella Royer
