Dear Sir/Madam,
I am interested in your Middleweight Digital Copywriter position and have attached my CV.
Currently I am working as a copywriter for Joss & Main UK, a flash sales site specialising in handpicked and curated events of trend-focused furniture. Having progressed from a junior to a more senior copywriter position, I have reached an impasse in progression within the company and am now seeking a new challenge to further develop my creative copywriting skills.
I have an avid interest in content copywriting and believe that my experience, combined with my enthusiasm to learn and excel, makes me a strong candidate for this position.
As part of my role, I contribute feature articles to the Joss & Main online magazine, Plume. This includes lifestyle tips, interior design trends and food-related articles. I thoroughly enjoy this aspect of my job as it gives me a chance to flex my creative muscles and write more editorial copy. Our main responsibilities include writing product level copy and event copy, giving us a range of both short and long styles alongside experience of working towards strict deadlines.
My love of food/lifestyle writing stems from blogging, contributing to the university newspaper as Food Correspondent and freelancing for lovefood. During my time interning at The Industry Report Store, I was able to utilise my feature writing skills to write targeted blog posts which commented on current affairs whilst tying back to a relevant link on the website. All of this online content writing has given me an understanding of SEO, social media influence and google trends.
A huge part of my current role is maintaining tone of voice and peer-editing the junior copywriter's work. This is to ensure that all copy stays consistent to our brand and that grammar, punctuation and research is unfailingly accurate. This has awarded me strong proof-reading skills and a keen eye for detail, which is essential for developing content guidelines and maintaining standards.
Alongside my online content experience, I actively contribute towards making my team the best it can possibly be by challenging standards, taking initiative and offering fresh ideas. I'm an active and social member of the office, having organised several charity bake offs and team outings. During peer reviews, I've been called out as a positive team member who takes challenges in my stride and contributes to a productive and enjoyable work environment.
All of this experience, alongside my dynamic writing degree, combined with my go-getting attitude and enthusiasm to develop my copywriting skills, makes me an excellent candidate for this role.
