I wouldn’t normally let a film crew in on my process but when the director approached me asking me for the kind of tools the queen would ask for to fix her loo, it wasn’t a job to pass on to one of my model makers. I said yes, of course - slowly realising they also wanted me to make the props IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA in my workshop. It was really unsettling being on that side of the camera but director Buzzy Thomlinson was absolutely brilliant and completely put me at ease.
