About me
To Whom It May Concern
I am writing to you in formal application for the vacant job of Language Coordinator. As a native Bulgarian speaker proficient in English and Japanese with a vast academic background in global media and advertising, I believe my combination of skills and experience would make a significant and positive contribution to the role of a Language Coordinator.
The primary focus of my education and work experience up to now has involved comprehensive engagement with the languages, cultures and societies of the UK and Japan. Having obtained formal certification of English proficiency in high school, and Japanese by the end of my undergraduate degree, I have continued to utilise these languages in both social and professional contexts. In addition to one-to-one and class teaching of English and Japanese in Bulgaria, I have also functioned as a chief interpreter and tour guide for a number of Japanese tourist groups visiting my country. Such a role demanded the effective translation and communication of complex historical and cultural ideas as well as the successful management of tour operations and client demands. Moreover, I have also gained considerable experience in academic written translation, involving the adjustment and fine-tuning of translations between Japanese and Bulgarian according to the desired target audience. This experience in translating and interpreting not only included focusing on the language specificities, but also required consideration of cultural factors.
During my years abroad in Japan and the UK, I had the opportunity to meet with people from all over the world. Thus, using English as well as Japanese, I have learned to communicate with all kinds of people no matter the language and cultural background they come from. This variety of experiences also perfected my communication skills and made cross-cultural interaction part of my everyday life. This feeds in to my passion for PR and advertising as in all aspects of life I have always been very sociable and open. I love interacting with new people and believe that advertising is a sphere where I can effectively combine these interests with my language and academic expertise to establish a long-lasting and successful career.
As a media student I have had to look at the media industry from the point of view of audiences as well as that of advertisers. Meanwhile, as a marketing intern I have gained practical experience in researching and contacting likely advertising media and industry partners, which, along with my MA has enriched my language expertise and given it an advertising direction. As a result I believe that the job of Language Coordinator in your agency would represent an ideal next step in my career.
Please find my CV attached for your consideration. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss my skills and experience with you further.
Yours Faithfully
