ABOUT

Poker is a self-driven personal project and is intended as an exhibition. It consists of 52 images (of which, only a selected few are presented here), each one depicting a card in the common playing deck.
Poker is a game where the important thing is not what happens but what people think happens. Each card is an original print that stands happily (and quietly erotically) on its own, but as a pack the cards display an artistic unity that is impressive and captivating. Each card is a vignette from a different and unique story, built on visions of a secret dreamscape. Of the 52 standard cards, a mere 8 are men. The rest are women, girls, ranging from
the mature femme fatales to pubescent Lolitas, but each and all captured to encapsulate the card they represent and the fantasy that can stem from that. The Kings and Jacks each take the form of a portrait, full head shots of almost recognisable people, themselves quasi-myths: do I recognise Sinatra, Elvis and Bowie among the four Kings? Or is my imagination giving play to another fantasy?
