ABOUT

This brief was extremely open ended; the band asked me to make a video for an upcoming single. From the title of the track I wanted to film some petals going around in a washing machine. This initial shot informed the two locations for the video, nature spots within the peak district, and a local laundrette.

For the peak district shots I wanted the band to remain composed the same in every shot, with the background changing around them. We had a few problems with this, so decided to keep them equaidistant from the camera, still in the middle of the shot, but to be more relaxed with their positions.

One influence when i came to edit was early 90's TV, especially the intro to Malcolm In The Middle in which shots of the characters are cut between old TV footage and heavily distressed. I re-filmed some of the footage through a VHS camera, and filmed that off an old CRT TV screen, and cut that between some shots.

The result is an almost psychedelic, 90's, punk feel which I feel fits well with the music, and which the band were extremely happy with.

"Buttercups" is taken from the split EP with Playlounge, 2014, released via Dog Knights Productions. Available digitally and on limited flower-shaped 12" vinyl
