ABOUT

Concept
Waste Mission had a problem that was quietly limiting their growth. Clients were regularly requesting carbon reports, compliance documents and collection data, and every request meant manual work from the team. As the customer base grew, so did the backlog. Nothing in the industry existed to solve it, so we set out to build something from scratch. The idea was simple: give clients direct access to their own data through a secure self-service portal, removing the need to ask at all.

Execution
The technical reality was anything but simple. The underlying data lived in Greentree, a legacy ERP system fragmented across multiple unlinked tables that could not be modified. Everything had to be read-only. On top of that, Waste Mission's business model meant their clients were also their suppliers, requiring the platform to be built around purchase orders rather than the typical sales approach.
We designed and built a bespoke web app on our Laravel-based Ensemble framework. The portal gives clients a live dashboard covering collection and disposal data, material breakdowns, financial earnings, a document repository, a transport calendar and asset tracking. We also built a custom carbon savings engine that calculates the environmental impact of each collection and generates downloadable certificates for sustainability reporting. Real-time notifications run through Twilio and SendGrid. When Waste Mission needed a working demo for a trade show before the platform was complete, we delivered a functional prototype to support their early sign-up push.

Results
The platform launched and quickly found its audience. It now serves more than 375 users, and routine requests that once took hours are handled instantly or not at all. For the first time, clients can log in and see everything in one place. It has helped Waste Mission scale without adding pressure to the team and has become a genuine differentiator in conversations with new prospects.
