Dear Madam/Sir,

My name is Duncan Gordon and I have just come across your job vacancy for a 'Retail Designer' and based on my qualifications and past experience I believe I would be ideal for this position. I am a highly creative and innovative Retail Designer, with extensive experience in POS/Retail Design. Since graduating with Honours, I have gained almost 6 years commercial experience working as a Retail Designer in both in-house and external design agency contexts.
As such, I am knowledgable of a wide range of manufacturing processes including (but not limited to): Injection Moulding, Vacuum Forming, Rotational Moulding, Metal/Plastic Extrusion & Fabrication, Wood/MDF Cabinetry, Diecut cardboard/polypropylene etc. all relevant to Retail Design. I am well versed in creative concept generation (hand sketching), technical design development(3D CAD), project management, project estimation/quotation, liasing with multi-national clients/brands (E.g. direct contact with clients like Nestle, Unilever, Coca-Cola, Diageo, Bombay Sapphire, Proctor & Gamble, Sony, Panasonic etc.) and working with both local and global manufacturers.
I am proficient in the use of Solidworks, Photoworks, Photoview 360, Keyshot etc. as well as the usual Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign etc. I have also previously spent time in China & Hong Kong to oversee production operations and perform quality testing of my designs at the production stage. In terms of my work, I have a very strong portfolio of design & production work spanning 6 years of design experience, containing many projects that will be instantly recognizable.
