ABOUT

The purpose of this teaser was to build anticipation for a new up-coming documentary series on Channel 5.

The idea for this concept piece was to capture a moment in battle. Two soldiers fighting for power. Isolating individual moments within the fight, focusing on the aggression, movement and power to place the viewer at the heart of the fight.

Influenced by the rich visual executions of films like 300 and Gladiator, this was shot to feel big, epic and cinematic. This helped elevate the profile of the show, giving the campaign a presence and gravitas which in turn enabled the channel to communicate with its audience in the right tone of voice.

Seeing an opportunity to shoot some moving elements on the back of an Off Air Stills Campaign for the show, I had to rely on working with a very distilled concept that captured the enormity and cinematic feel of a Roman battle, but with very limited time and budget on the day. This meant executing a highly stylised shoot quickly, with a highly experienced crew and minimal lighting and kit but a good understanding of what could be achieved in post production.
