ABOUT
As part of celebrations to mark International Women’s Day 2025. Toyota wanted to build awareness of its mission “Let’s Go Beyond” to engage their network, partners and employees -both internally and externally.
The aim was to to empower Toyota employees through shared narratives and subtly incorporate the Toyota brand into the broader messaging of women's empowerment and leadership in the workplace.
We wanted to create legacy - encouraging and supporting women within this diverse group to reflect on their careers and growth, and initiate their own support networks to foster an environment where they could share personal challenges and solutions.
The strategy was not only about enhancing internal morale and cohesion but also demonstrating Toyota’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, thereby reinforcing its leadership role in fostering a supportive corporate culture.
This campaign revolves around the theme of perseverance and personal growth, encapsulated in ambassador Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix’s heartfelt letter to her younger self.
The focus for this campaign also included inspiring Toyota's own followers and fans - by sharing it across social platforms, including LinkedIn and Instagram. To further extend the reach, the project was also tasked with engaging a broad audience by encouraging them to share their own personal and relatable victorious moments.
CONCEPT
The core concept involved Olympian Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix writing a letter to her younger self, which embodied themes of pride, perseverance, and womanhood. This personal narrative format was chosen for its emotional appeal and authenticity, providing a relatable and inspirational story. Through this approach, the campaign ingeniously taps into the deeply personal and reflective nature of writing to one’s former self. This modality not only strikes a chord with audiences on an emotional level but also maintains a universal aura, allowing viewers to conjure their own contemplations about past journeys and future aspirations. Andrea’s narrative of surmounting obstacles and triumphantly owning her successes offers a powerful model for young women and girls, presenting a real-life heroine whose journey provides both credibility and depth to the overarching message. This authentic storytelling cultivates a more profound connection with the audience, bolstering engagement and trust. Aligning seamlessly with Toyota’s “Let’s Go Beyond” mission, the storytelling weaving empowerment and personal growth into Toyota’s brand narrative reinforces the company’s commitment to these ideals. Internally, the initiative aimed to stimulate a supportive culture within Toyota by encouraging female employees to form networks that echo the campaign’s empowering messages, fostering an internal environment of support and shared growth. Externally, it positioned Toyota as a leader in cultural advocacy for inclusivity and empowerment. This dual-focus strategy, amplified by the extensive reach of social media and Andrea’s personal influence, ensured a widespread and significant impact. By effectively bridging both internal and external audiences, the storytelling effort not only enhanced Toyota’s brand image but also demonstrated the powerful role of narrative in fostering engagement and supporting a collective vision of resilience and empowerment.
