French multi-instrumentalist, singer, producer and composer, FKJ (FKJ), known for his fully improvised single Tadow, and retro-soul jam Detroit vocalist, Eryn Allen Kane, have united on a soul-soaked single that captures the frenzy of head-over-heels attraction.

The 3m 53s music video for I WANT U launched on Thursday, 27 August, produced by Dissidence Production and co-directed by Rémi Danino and FKJ.

The entire video plays out through the warped lens of a fisheye camera, from the point of view of an apartment door’s peephole. It looks out into a bold, red hallway with a 70s-esque patterned floor and repeating ceiling lights that transform the corridor into a stage.

Eryn Allen Kane, on lead vocals, takes centre stage, joined by FKJ who plays all instruments heard in the song. They don’t interact with each other, as though they are in different timelines, until they join each other at the end of the video for a final jam. The camera shifts between intimate close-ups and wide, circular compositions, with the performers appearing to stretch, shrink, bend and duplicate within the exaggerated lens.

The video closes by leaving the performers behind and returning to an empty corridor, its geometric pattern drawing the viewer back into the world the video has created.
