ABOUT

Asphyxia or asphyxiation is a condition of severely
deficient supply of oxygen to the body that arises from
abnormal breathing. Through using a symbolic context,
the photographic portrait project 'Asphyxia' depicts the
social effects being sophistically imposed by governments
and current political regimes around the world. The idea
emerged from the socio-political situation (crisis) that takes
place in my country, Greece, and its concept is self-reflective.
Participants with diverse nationalities have been asked to
choose a situation or a word from their own country and
language that addresses the social predicaments that people
face on a daily basis. Each word or phrase corresponds
respectively to their individual and metaphorical ‘Asphyxia’.
