The exercise was part of the course 'Designing for women's activewear' run by The Textile Design Lab, of which I am a member. The brief was to design for the Fall/Winter trends of 2019/2020.
Drawn to the brief ‘Cosmic Nature’ and ‘Out of this World’ which immediately brought to mind the Predator creature in the movies ‘Predator’. I started with what would be placement prints/engineered prints of the muscles of the legs. I think this would appeal to someone who’s looking for something different and wanting to make a statement. Infrared colours matched the Light Magic palette so moved onto jungle foliage, keeping with the “Predator” infrared theme. Then, to make the design more subdued, and possibly more accessible, made the pattern mono with highlights of purple.
