ABOUT

The Kent and Medway Progression Federation (KMPF) is a collaboration of educational institutions working to help people from different backgrounds progress into further and higher education. Through a range of services and programmes, KMPF supports individuals who may not otherwise see higher education as a realistic option.

THE BRIEF
We were briefed to create a series of films with students who had accessed KMPF services, exploring their individual journeys and showing how the support they received helped them take their next steps. The aim was to create content that felt honest, relatable and aspirational for young people, schools and community organisations across Kent and Medway.

OUR APPROACH
We developed a creative treatment based on self authored storytelling, giving each student ambassador the space to tell their own story in their own words.

Spending a day with each contributor allowed us to build trust and capture moments that felt natural rather than staged.

Filming with two broadcast cameras and prime lenses, we combined considered interviews with observational scenes of students in educational environments.

Slow motion sequences were used selectively to give the films a calm, cinematic feel, while aerial drone footage helped place each story within a wider sense of place and possibility.

The result was a series of individual films that feel connected by tone and purpose, rather than formula.

THE OUTCOME
The completed films provide KMPF with a flexible set of assets that clearly demonstrate the real impact of their work through lived experience.

The content is used on YouTube and across social media channels, as well as offline at face to face events with schools and community organisations.

Together, the films help KMPF communicate clear progression pathways, encourage engagement with their services and inspire learners to see higher education as achievable.

"Digitom was able to take our brief and bring our vision to life. They made the film-making process very simple, ensuring our student ambassadors were confident telling their stories."
