Women in Digital

Published by

52% of gamers are women, but the industry doesn’t know it and the number of female CIOs has remained static at 14% for at least a decade. Intel want to lead by example and have promised $300M to boost the representation of women and minorities in tech.

Women are exceptional good at seeing a problem and rectifying it before it happens, they also possess the necessary leadership skills but lack the respect from who else but men. Our message to you ladies is to keep that hero mentality.

Back in the 1920’s Eleanor Roosevelt famously said “if a woman wants to be involved in the public….she has to grow skin as thick as the hide of a rhinoceros”

Those with that hero mentality and skin as thick as the hide of a rhinoceros, have been rewarded like the winners of the 2014 L'Oréal Women in Digital Next Generation Awards:

  • Dr. Cynthia Breazeal - Founder & CEO, Jibo an electronics company that is creating the world’s first social robot for the home.
  • Tania Yuki - Founder & CEO, Shareablee which measures the world's social interactions with brands.
  • Victoria Eisner - Chief Creative Officer & Co-Founder, GLAMSQUAD an on-demand beauty delivery app that sends high quality, professionally trained hair stylists and makeup artists to your home or office.

If that wasn’t inspiration enough, more recently you may have seen Rihanna recently became the creative director for Puma. The work force as a whole is heavily male dominated, but we want to know what you can bring to the table in 2015. How well can you market yourself as well as a company? Can you bring that creative spark to win those awards and attract new business?

Like Elizabeth Varley Co-Founder and CEO of Tech-Hub do you have what it takes to grow in the industry and have a valued opinion as she is involved in the digital and content sectors and speaks at industry events. She has sat on the London College of Communication’s Digital Media Advisory Forum, been a judge of the Association of Online Publishers Awards and the Information Management Awards.

These women were also in Vogue as leading business CEO’s:

  • Kathryn Parson – Decoded
  • Renate Nyborg – Mobile Consultancy
  • Divinia Knowles – Mind Candy
  • Nina Faulhaber – Ecstase

To the ladies in the industry, please feel free to contact The Digital Recruitment Company as we are in the early preparation stage of creating a panel and guest speakers for a series of Vlogs focusing on Women in Digital and Tech. You have immersed yourselves in the industry, you deserve to share your story and inspire others, we want you to share the culture of your work place, your predications on the industry and where you think it is heading. We want to know the role you play within your team and company and how you have made it your own through the time you have been there. Your ambitions can spark a movement as the world undergoes a digital transformation.
