ABOUT

THE CHALLENGE

Changing messages regarding progression of the pandemic have caused some confusion in the general public about contagion, particularly in regards to asymptomatic cases. The initial focus on symptomatic individuals has broadened and recent studies show that people displaying no symptoms may also transmit the virus.

Masks are now mandatory in Transport for London services as an easy and simple way of slowing community transmission. However, this shift in message has been hard to disseminate, particularly among the younger population, whose sense of perceived personal risk of carrying the virus tends to be lower.

THE SOLUTION

In order to increase mask-usage compliance among younger users, it seems important that the message not be punitive. We decided to create a series of funny and ligh-hearted posters that would draw attention to the risks associated to asymptomatic cases by reminding users that the fact that you cannot see something doesn't mean it’s not there.
