ABOUT

I pass these red lights almost daily, ever since they were installed alongside the completion of the Energy Centre. These two bold red lines, marking the entrance and exit of the car park, commanded my attention.

Each time I saw them, I imagined how I could bring them to life—make them dance. This idea became the foundation of the project: a way of "blooming" movement from a single photograph. That one image became the seed from which the entire composition grew.

I began with stop-frame animation and gradually expanded into a variety of styles, creating dynamic 3- and 5-second sequences. These diverse fragments were then carefully stitched together to form a cohesive, flowing composition. To complete the work, I composed an original piece of music to accompany and enhance the "dance" of the red lights.

This piece forms part of the Blythian Memes series, an ongoing exploration of place, movement, and imagination.
