About me

I am Devishree Rakahi, a designer specializing in textiles and apparel, hailing from the National Institute of Design in Andhra Pradesh. My artistic voyage primarily centers around a deep appreciation for tangible materials, hues, patterns, and the skill of crafting textures and patterns. With a strong fondness for activities like weaving, dyeing, embroidery, screen printing, and beyond, I flourish in the domain of versatile and diverse design practices.

I am greatly intrigued by the exploration and research of diverse traditional textiles. This fascination has driven me to compile a concise document centered around the traditional sarees of South India. This effort is particularly important as many of these intricate crafts are on the brink of disappearance. I firmly believe that safeguarding our heritage crafts serves not only to preserve our cultural legacy but also to secure livelihoods for the artisans who create them.

Being a designer, my philosophy revolves around two core principles. Firstly, I am dedicated to weaving narratives into my creations, infusing each piece with a blend of sentiment and storytelling. Secondly, sustainability is a principle I hold dear. In today's world, establishing a zero-waste environment is imperative, and I am a strong advocate for this cause.
