ABOUT
My job was to create two ensembles. One had to be a sleeveless dress and the other had to be based on pattern slopers we created throughout the semester. As I created my designs I thought about my experience traveling. I don't mean the part where I'm physically traveling, but of the experience. I thought about the cultures I interacted with and discovered. The blue cotton dress is called "Globetrotter" the slits on either side of the skirt provide for easy mobility while flitting from city to city. The patches that can be found on the cowl neck and the bottom back hem are symbolic of the places she has been. A true traveler has a keepsake from every destination. The second ensemble is called "Wanderer". This is made up of a pair of comfortable suede cuffed shorts, a jersey deep v-neck and back tank top, and a wool felt coat. This ensemble is perfect for a traveler because no matter where the wanderer may wind up she will be prepared for her surroundings. Yes, the shorts and tank can be thought of as summer clothing, but throw on a pair of tights and your coat and bam, winter ready.
These two ensembles were meant to have a "worn" appearance that connected them. They shared material and silhouette. Brown suede and blue cotton can be found intermixed. The cowl neck of the dress correlates with the oversized design of the coat over the shorts.
