ABOUT
The Intel® Gaming World Relay is an esports competition and charity fundraiser created to unite everyone, from pros to amateur gamers to compete, stream and donate through friendly competition.
Open to everyone, the five-day event ran from Wednesday 28th September to Sunday 2nd October 2022 and invited players at any level from around the world to tune in, support their chosen teams and even fundraise themselves by streaming and playing from home, all with a chance to win prizes throughout the relay.
With a vision to unite the gaming community around the power of gaming for good, we defined the creative concept, and designed and executed a campaign, to inspire millions of gamers around the world to raise the most money for charities, esports style. We created four esports-style global teams – Kitsune, Hippogryph, Qilin and Alicanto – all inspired by mythical creatures, and recruited gamers from around the world to play under the leadership of members of the Intel Gaming Alliance. We created design elements for everything from team names, logos, and VR avatars to merchandise and promotional assets.
Our teams embraced gaming lore with their own backstories and special powers which were brought to life through complementary visual language. These helped fans find a team they could identify with through personality, or by which best matched their own skillset. And for the casual participant, by which streamer had been chosen as that team’s champion.
To encourage the wider gaming community to join the event, we created how-to guides and fundraising toolkits, including broadcast overlays and social media assets to learn how to stream from home to help members of the community, and simply to inspire the curious ones to get in on the action.
