ABOUT

The latest instalment of our on-going work with Fortnum & Mason is a new design for a true Fortnum's classic - the "ever so English" County Biscuits.

This is a design rich in craft and storytelling. Partly inspired by traditional woodcut and tapestry crafts, our bespoke illustration flows around the tin, depicting eclectic tales from folklore associated with each of the four counties the biscuit recipes originate from. Inside the tin you'll also find a special booklet that uses evocative language to bring the history and tradition of the folk tales to life further, adding extra layers of delight, discovery and storytelling when you open the biscuit tin at home.

Maybe you'll discover the tale of a mermaid’s unrequited love for a Cornish sailor that ends in bitter revenge, or the superstition of tolling the famous ‘Black Tom’ bell of Dewsbury in Yorkshire to ward off evil spirits at Christmastime. Perhaps you'll learn about the ancient tradition of dressing wells with floral garlands in Lancashire, or the myth of a malevolent giant in Shrewsbury. A unique and charming biscuit tin that can be used again and again, we're sure you'll discover new stories each time you look at it...
