Frustrated with ‘rainbow washing’, but passionate about being an active voice in one of the most iconic Pride cities in the world, the team in our Amsterdam Studio came up with their own initiative to get involved with Pride this year in a diverse, respectful and humanising way.

10 people from the Studio chose an icon to pay tribute to: a person who has opened their eyes to acceptance, or inspired them to become who they are today. They then wrote individual stories in homage to their chosen icon, and we commissioned a set of bespoke illustrations to articulate each story. We then crafted and shot a portrait series that captured each person with their illustrated story.

At the beginning of August the inspirational portraits were exhibited in a pop-up gallery in the iconic alleyway leading to the Amsterdam Studio just off the Overtoom, where the team also hosted a launch party to kick off the Pride weekend.
