ABOUT

Over the past two years, Design Bridge has built a strong creative partnership with Beauty Banks, the charity founded by journalist Sali Hughes and publicist Jo Jones that supports individuals and families in the UK who can’t afford to be clean with donations of personal care and hygiene products.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic hit, Beauty Banks experienced a surge of requests from charitable organisations and foodbanks needing their help; in some parts of the UK this was up 250% compared to 2019.

To support those in need, we teamed up four of our designers with some of the most influential beauty content creators in the UK to help bring their unique creative visions to life across a range of covetable, sustainable limited edition cosmetics bags:

- Cher Webb, Makeup artist
- Gary Thompson aka Plastic Boy, Influencer
- Sali Hughes, Journalist, Broadcaster, Author and Co-Founder of Beauty Banks
- Sam Chapman and Nic Chapman-Haste, Makeup artists and content creators

On sale exclusively at Superdrug from February 2021, each bag is made entirely from recycled materials; everything from the fabric to the fastenings is made from reclaimed plastic bottles. They £4.99 each and 100% of the profits will be donated to Beauty Banks. If they sell out, that will mean £50,000 invested in supporting people in communities across the UK who are living in hygiene poverty.

The response to the launch of the cosmetics bags has been phenomenal. They have been shared across multiple high profile social media accounts in the beauty world as well as celebrities such as Lauren Laverne and Caitlin Moran. British Vogue and Hello Magazine have also featured them.

Through this collaborative partnership we’ve harnessed the power of design to create a desirable and collectible range of cosmetics bags and supporting social media content to continue raising awareness for Beauty Banks, prompting people to donate money and help tackle hygiene poverty in the UK to make a real difference to many people’s lives.
