About me
My name is Denis — better known on the Balkan music scene as Rusty. Born and raised in Pleven,
Bulgaria, I now call Sofia home, where I've built a creative life entwined with sound and innovation.
From Pleven to the Balkan Sound Identity
At age 13, I discovered a passion that shaped the rest of my life: the power of music
production to move listeners. What began as literally bedroom beats evolved into a career marked
by distinctive, across the Balkans. I'm proud to be recognized here as an OG — a sonic trendsetter
in Bulgaria.
A Commitment to Craft and Theory
My artistic journey is grounded in formal education. In 2019 I enrolled at New Bulgarian
University to study music theory and sound engineering, and earned my Bachelor's in 2023. Driven
to refine my skills further, I completed a Master's in Sound Engineering and Sound Design in 2024,
diving into topics like Foley effects, post-production, immersive soundscapes, and experimental
techniques. My education ensures that my creative decisions are not only instinctive, but also
technically sound.
What Sets Denis Apart
- Hands-on Sound Creation: Rather than relying on presets, I sculpt every element by hand
— from analog synthesizer layers to custom rhythmic textures — making each track
uniquely my own.
- Regionally Versatile: With collaborations across hip-hop, trap, R&B, pop, and electronic
genres throughout the Balkans, I've adapted to different aesthetics while staying true to my
ethos. My mother is from a Turkish descent and I blend every detail and culture.
- Hybrid Innovation: I merge cutting-edge digital tools with analog gear and sound
manipulation techniques, aiming to spike curiosity and evoke emotion.
Looking Ahead: Growth in Global Sound Design
My passion is constant exploration. I'm eager to push beyond borders—experimenting with
new formats, collaborating with international artists, and breaking into sound design for film,
advertising, and interactive media. I want to demonstrate what makes my creative voice distinct
and why it offers something others don't.
