ABOUT

According to the visionary Russian and British entrepreneurs who conceived Exposed, the days of the traditional gallery are numbered. In its place will be spaces like Exposed, a multi-functional art and culture centre in Moscow that introduces new artists to the world. Our brief was to create a brand for this new idea that would express both its philosophy and the cultural energy and heritage of Moscow itself.

We began with the words. Our name for the new space – Exposed – was enthusiastically received, as it points two ways: towards exposing new art and artists, and towards the exposure of a new form of art space. Next came the accompanying strapline. ‘Space for Art’ captures Exposed’s positioning as a living, breathing, adaptable art space, the next step on from a more traditional gallery.

Alongside the verbal identity, we developed a visual one based around a fluid yet instantly recognisable logo with a modern typeface. We created this, so it is adaptable to any height or format. Finally, we applied every aspect of the identity to Exposed’s site, reshaping its architecture, user experience, design and emotional take out.

Our aim was to position the brand at the forefront of new thinking in art in the Russian capital. We’re pleased to have done exactly that. Now Exposed partners with Eksmo, Russia’s leading literary publishing house, and is a two-floor space that showcases contemporary art and photography, hosting creative workshops and events.
