Air Purifier

Air purifier concept in progress, the concept works by using carbon filtering as opposed to conventional methods such as hepa filtering.

Indoor air quality has a major influence on the health, comfort and well-being of building occupants, it is one of the fundamental factors which helps improve the environment we live in, some of the factors we need to consider are poor air quality which has been linked to Sick Building Syndrome, reduced productivity and impaired learning.

People in Europe spend at least 90% of their time indoors, their total exposure to many air pollutants largely depends on their indoor exposure. These pollutants include volatile organic chemicals (VOCs), gases such as nitrogen dioxide, ozone and carbon monoxide, particulate matter and fibres, and biological particles such as bacteria, fungi and pollen.

The advantages we have now are having access to portable units with low power consumptions unfortunately due to the sheer number of developments we have in terms of air purifying systems it is a difficult solution especially ones that do not last long, the maintenance and physical elements involved will be time consuming especially in regards to changing filters or components to achieve the same level of performance. Some of the larger commercial units have a large capacity to intake the polluted air and are built to last long term using Hepa filters as a solution but that being said they do not meet the space requirements for the normal domestic user in addition to the cost margin that an average user would spend on a unit.

The proposed idea is reduce the space required and develop a system that does not solely require heavy maintenance.
