ABOUT

THE CATEGORY CLICHÉIce cream advertising is trapped in a pastel fantasy of slow-motion melting cream, dripping chocolate shells, and model women laughing at dessert spoons on sunlit velvet sofas. The category treats indulgence as a sanitized, solitary romance, completely detached from the communal domestic chaos of how real families actually interact with the kitchen refrigerator.THE PRINCIPLEThe unvarnished human truth is that millions of people have tiptoed into a dark kitchen at midnight, pulled an iconic Häagen-Dazs pint from the freezer with trembling anticipation, prised off the gold-rimmed lid, and found themselves staring at frozen lamb curry, fish stock, or six-month-old mutton stew. Nobody throws away a Häagen-Dazs tub. It is manufactured from heavy, wax-coated, freeze-proof board that feels far too substantial for the recycling bin. Frugal mothers and grandmothers wash the container in scalding water and turn it into permanent domestic Tupperware. We invert the category by celebrating the heartbreaking betrayal: our packaging is so revered, so durable, and so structurally superior that your family hijacks it as a vault for dinner leftovers.CAMPAIGN PLATFORM & MASTER HEADLINEHäagen-Dazs // "The Freezer Vault"Master Headline: If there is mutton stew inside, your mother got here first.THE COPY SYSTEM & EXECUTIVE BYLINESub-copy: We build our tubs from heavy freeze-proof board because real cream deserves real custody. What your family chooses to freeze inside them after the final spoonful is between them and their conscience.Brand Strategy, Creative Direction, Art Direction, Copywriting: Deborah Rossouw
