ABOUT

THE CATEGORY CLICHÉBeer advertising defaults to sweaty aluminum cans spraying cold foam at beach barbecues, backed by loud indie rock and generic party laughter. The category treats opening a can as an act of impatient thirst, training consumers to expect instant, fizzy carbonation the millisecond the tab cracks open.THE PRINCIPLEThe unvarnished human truth is the nervous can-tap ritual. Millions of drinkers obsessively tap the lid of a beer can three times with their index fingernail or knuckle before pulling the ring, stubbornly convinced this domestic folklore dislodges bubbles and prevents an explosion. We invert the category with deadpan scientific authority: Guinness Draught in a can is not an ordinary carbonated lager. Inside sits a patented hollow plastic widget pressurized with liquid nitrogen. When the tab cracks, pressure drops, triggering a violent downward surge of micro-bubbles that slowly builds a dense, velvety head. Tapping the lid does nothing. Physics does not answer to superstition. Pull the ring, pour it hard, and let the nitrogen settle.CAMPAIGN PLATFORM & MASTER HEADLINEGuinness // "The Nitrogen Standard"Master Headline: Physics does not care about your index fingernail.THE COPY SYSTEM & EXECUTIVE BYLINESub-copy: Inside every can sits a hollow nitrogen widget pressurized to two atmospheres. It does not respond to domestic folklore. Crack the tab, pour it down the center, and give gravity two minutes of peace.Brand Strategy, Creative Direction, Art Direction, Copywriting: Deborah Rossouw
