ABOUT
The Site & Brand Sam’s Waterside is a sophisticated culinary destination situated at the heart of the multi-million-pound Brentford Project development. Overlooking the Grand Union Canal and the River Thames, the restaurant is a cornerstone of the area’s regeneration. Working in close collaboration with the architects, we aimed to create a lighting scheme that transitioned elegantly from a bright, breezy lunch destination to an intimate, high-end evening retreat.
The Brief & Solution We were tasked with delivering a full lighting package, including detailed designs, technical calculations, and luminaire specifications that complemented the restaurant's premium materials and waterside views. Central to the brief was the need for "atmospheric flexibility."
To achieve this, we implemented a Casambi control system, enabling the staff to move seamlessly through bespoke lighting scenes that mirror the natural progression of the day. This technology allowed us to balance functional task lighting for service with soft, ambient layers that enhance the dining experience. The success of this project was recognized globally; Sam's Waterside was honoured with the LIV Hospitality Design Award, a Silver at the FAB Awards, and was a finalist at the SBID International Design Awards.
