Created for the US market, this spot was initially based on the insight that apparently most music listening in the US takes place in cars, yet very little of that comes from streaming. The aim of this ad was therefore to get Spotify users to think of streaming when they’re driving. To do this, the brand’s in-house team created a funny ad that draws on a familiar habit: that we will hang around in a car to hear the end of a song we like before getting out. This idea is transplanted into various amusing scenarios in the spot, where people are shown earnestly singing along to Sia’s Elastic Heart until the song plays out.
