We photographed the spices from the "to be launched" series of Prince and Spring spices to create the emoticon shapes. It was a slow and steady 2-week shoot I can only compare the process to zen sand gardens or growing a bonsai tree. A pile of spice would slowly be brushed away on set leaving the emoji, we produced 2 images a day until the series was complete.
