About David
I graduated in 2008 with a BA in Illustration and worked initially in freelance positions, alongside voluntary work to build up my skill set. In 2009 I was awarded the opportunity to undertake Artwork and Illustration as well as direct a team tocreate and carry out the work I designed to decorate an allocated area in the Flagship TopShop Store in the Liverpool One shopping and commercial centre on behalf of the Arcadia Group.
In 2010 I was appointed to the role of Junior Art worker at Xerox
(based at Findel Education PLC) and following a corporate restructure in 2011 and I was appointed as a Reprographics and Art Worker and employed directly through Findel Education PLC. Sadly, in July 2012 my fixed term contract at Findel came to an end, and in September 2012 I took up a role at CCA Occasions as a Mac Operator carrying out art work.
In my employment history since 2010 I have been fortunate enough to achieve 2 and a half years experience in a Studio Environment. Prior to 2010 I worked in retail and in logistics alongside my freelance art work whilst I sought to seek employment more closely related to my degree. The transferable skills I was able to achieve through working in retail and logistics have afforded me the opportunity to work as part of a team to achieve targets which were subject to change on a daily basis in line with the customers/consumers need. This has been
invaluable to me during my time based within the Studio receiving
design briefs and working as a multidisciplinary team to deliver a high standard finished product.
My role at Findel Education PLC had me dealing with the cut outs and retouching the images for up to 15 brands. Before the end of my fixed term contract I was fortunate enough to have been encouraged to assist the E-commence team designing landing pages and web banners to further promote brands in web publications.
In addition to my degree I also hold a HNC in Graphic Design awarded in 2002. My two and a half years commercial studio experience has allowed me to become proficient in working with CS5 to carry out art
work and reprographics for media publications using software packages such as Adobe Photoshop, Indesign, and Illustrator. I have been able to achieve industry-gained print and reprographics knowledge through working on a day to day basis in the commercial studio using an acute eye to detail to achieve print ready publications as part of a team of art workers, graphic designers and brand managers.
I feel in my two years and a half years as an Art worker I have
developed expert knowledge of artwork building techniques suitable for repro/print/design.
I feel that in line with your person specification I am an
ambitious, passionate Artworker who wants to progress.
