ABOUT

The brief was to design a new brand image that reflects the historic town of Woodbridge, Suffolk. The branding had to work along side the present town crest and encompass all the departments of the council such as town council business, weddings, locations and venue hire. The client required a logo, website, stationary, printed promotional material, press ads and social media posts.

The branding inspiration came from the shape of the River Deben as it snakes around Woodbridge and the colours of the 16th century houses which surround Market Hill, where the Shire Hall (council offices) is situated. These colours along with icons (illustrations of famous Woodbridge landmarks) were then used to identify each of the councils departments. Once the brand guidelines were in place I produced artwork for each of the elements, visuals for the web pages (I worked closely with a web developer to bring these to life) and also design templates so that the council staff can use these going forward for advertising and social media posts.

The town council now has a strong brand identity which it has followed through with signage around the town, social media posts and advertising of events. The branding has helped with the exposure of council owned buildings for hire such as the Shire Hall for weddings and has boosted the campaign to secure funds for the restoration of the Shire Hall.
