ABOUT

Background
Breaker Bars is a 4×4 barwork manufacturer (bullbars, rear bars, sliders, etc.), appealing mainly to males aged 18-60. The logo needed to be bold, simple, legible, and felt “tough”—something customers would be proud to display.

Challenges
- Ensuring the logo is recognisable from a distance (e.g. on vehicles, signwriting, apparel) while still being simple enough to work in a laser-cut format.
- Striking the right tone: rugged and action-oriented rather than sleek or “cute.”
- Limited feature colour usage, so making one colour and form do heavy lifting of conveying strength and impact.

Design Approach
- Used clean, bold forms that exaggerate angles or edges to suggest aggression and motion.
- Designed with one strong feature colour to maintain cohesion across various media (car parts, hoodies, factory signage).
- Choose type and iconography so that even when scaled down or reduced (e.g. for vehicle badges or embroidery), the logo remains distinct.

Design Process
Step I - Brand Noun
The client listed brand nouns that resonate with the brand:
Strong, Metal, Offroad, Bold, Gear, Outdoors, Rocks, Dirt, Powerful & Engine

Step II - Concept Sketching
The project began with rough sketches to explore different ways of expressing toughness and motion in the logo. This stage allowed me to quickly test variations before committing to a direction.

Step III - Digital Refinement
I translated the strongest sketches into vector form, experimenting with typography, bold angles, and single-colour options to ensure the logo could scale and remain impactful across media.

Finale - Application Testing
The logo was applied to mockups, such as vehicles, apparel, and signage, to evaluate its strength in real-world scenarios. This confirmed that the mark held its identity whether seen on a barwork product, laser-cut metal, or printed merchandise.

“This design was developed specifically for Breaker Bars; however, the client did not move forward with a decision. The work shown reflects the full creative concept as intended.”
