ABOUT
We’ve created this project called “The Color of Taste”, with Pantone + Monin.
It’s basically a selected number of Monin flavors and we turn their package (the classic Monin’s glass bottle) to a Pantone language, and the name of the flavor also turns into a Pantone code, obviously taking care that the color of the flavor is a match at the Pantone system.
We’ve put the letters “MN” in the end of each name (Pantone 1787 MN for the Rose flavor - where MN means “Monin”). Beyond the “Monin Pantone Limited Edition” flavors (they are the same you already have, just in a new package) we should have a new Pantone book called “Pantone Monin Series”, were it brings all the matched colors of Monin’s flavors on the market.
For the bottles, I’ve chosen the following flavors: Rose, Granny Smith Apple, Pomegranate, Lemon, and Curaçao Blue. All them, if we relate to Pantone, are in the spectrum of some Pantone “color of the year”, including latest year’s color (for exemple, Curaçao Blue, as for Pantone Classic Blue 2020). The aesthetics go on a different approach from what Monin usually uses, because of the Pantone brand, a more urban and contemporary language they typically bring.
All of this (limited bottles and he Pantone book) could be launched only for online platforms, or with a huge celebration in the real world, with a party for VIP influencers, visual artists, media, etc. The idea was to launch it at the summer, because there’s no such great season to celebrate life, joy, happiness, and the power of people and creativity. It could be a bold statement from Monin as to say “we are stronger than the pandemic, we must go on and we need to celebrate life”.
We’ve make quick mockups just to envision the idea and to have a pitch with the brands, what we had, but both told us it was not the time - this was just before the pandemic gets a real messy last year.
What do you think about it? Let’s make it happen. As we have another brand involved, Pantone, maybe we need their acknowledgment for that (I think so, but your juridic depto. may help). But I’m sure if Mr Bill Lombard give a call to Mr. Adrian from Pantone they agree with that in a minute.
