The briefing for the Design For Music class at Middlesex University was to come up with some form of packaging for a band/musician. At the times my musical interests were soaring the instrumental composers, and I had recently reached the Asian continent in that regard. So the band/musician ended up being a collection of Japanese composers. When it came to deciding what sort of packaging would best fit this type of musical collective, I decided to take a look at some Japanese decorative boxes, until I stumbled upon the traditional Puzzle Box. The result of my packaging is an adaptation of the traditional object, with a simpler, less frail mechanism, and enough room inside to fit the sleeve that houses the CD.
