This project was the creation of a 3D Model of the Daleks from BBC Science Fiction Show Doctor Who made for a fan made project and test demo for a game I don't plan on releasing. I planned to create the model to make it as accurate to the revival series model and character as closely as possible while also being designed by functioning as a player character in a game. This included the ability for the casing of the Dalek to open to reveal the mutant inside, being able to freely move the shoulders, gun stick, plunger, eye stalk and dome, eye being able to shrink to signify them zooming in on someone, extendable plunger and detailed material textures to show off the bronze shine.

While using references from the show, screenshots and clips I also referenced it heavily on the Project Dalek document created by the community at Project Dalek (they were very helpful during the model making process and are awesome) I built the Dalek from the Base up to the Dome including the inner area where the Mutant sits inside the tank. I box modeled the majority of the mesh though sometimes used planes and welded them together to create pieces such as the base. Trickiest part was making the Shoulders, Skirt and the Mutant. The Shoulders and Skirt required me to place plates and the spheres around them which I wanted to keep accurate and in line with each other, the end results for both turned out excellent. The Mutant's design was based heavily on the one seen in Series 1 Episode 6's "Dalek" but it was difficult getting it to look gross, pathetic but also intimidating I balanced out all these aspects and added facial animations as a bonus mini project afterwards.

The final model turned out really good. The model looks fantastic at all types of angles especially with material shaders and poses well, the shell opens up well and the Mutant inside looks great. However the lighting can make the shaders look a little strange at some angles and the eye stalk wasn't as shiny as I intended. Overall I am happy with how the model turned out.
