The music video for Fils de Joie by Stromae paid tribute to sex workers and their children. Taking place in an imaginary country, the video depicts the glorious funeral of a national heroine, a courtesan. As the head of these proceedings, Stromae stands on his podium, salutes the regiments and honours the much-loved courtesan with a harrowing and, to say the least, moving speech before a silent audience. Shot in Brussels, Stromae’s hometown, this monumental music video brought together more than 500 extras and dancers for this solemn but celebratory tribute.
