ABOUT
Bath Camerata is a semi-professional chamber choir, based in the City of Bath, but tours all over the world. They sing a wide variety of music from any century including a large selection of contemporary music. They have won several prizes, including BBC Adult Choir of the Year, and made a number of television appearances, including singing Roderick Williams’s Jazz Responses for Lucy Worsley: Elizabeth I’s Battle for God’s Music on BBC4.
A couple of years into a new, more professional era, they approached me to help them rebrand. They required a new logo, brand assets, including new typestyle and colour palette to be used across all their communications, plus templates for posters, leaflets and programmes.
The new logo primarily needed to convey the feeling of quality and professionalism, but also needed to evoke a sense of vitality and energy when combined with the full range of brand elements across all applications.
The idea for the logo was based on the staves used in Western musical notation – a set of five horizontal lines and four spaces that each represent a different musical pitch. This was then crafted to form an abstract 'BC', the initials for Bath Camerata. The logo is adaptable to work in the smallest spaces, such as social media icons, as well as creating real impact when it appears larger on brochures and banners. Cropping and scaling the logo allows for many different iterations and patterns, making sure there is real flexibility across numerous applications.
