ABOUT

Concept:

The councils of East Surrey (Epsom and Ewell Borough Council, Mole Valley District Council, Reigate & Banstead Borough Council and Tandridge District Council) have come together under the Shared East Surrey Economic Development Initiative (ESEDI) to help drive economic growth across the area. They were seeking an overarching brand that encompassed the essence of each council to be used on all their communications and digital and print materials.

Execution:

The first step was to conduct interviews with various members of the East Surrey team to find out information like what the vision for the ESEDI should be, the values it should have and the feel for the brand.

This information was then debriefed to the ESEDI team in a workshop where we ran through our findings and observations. We also presented them with mood boards mixed with words, colours and images, created out of what we’d discovered in our initial research.

Using their feedback in the workshop, we then developed a brand palette and graphic device. Our creative team also worked together to create the East Surrey Spark. The emblem takes its inspiration from the map of Surrey, and connects the points of the four regions to form the dynamic spark-like graphic.

Our final deliverables for the project included the Spark (in full logo and lettermark form), comprehensive brand guidelines, typeface selection, an image library, digital applications such as social media cards, a newsletter and website design as well as print applications such as brochures and letterheads.

Results:

The East Surrey team were delighted with the final results and will be implementing the new brand shortly.
