With this commissioned book cover series I was asked to illustrate images that were related to the message the author wanted to get across to his desired market. I was to keep the covers very simple yet eye catching, . With that I decided to give the client a visual mockup of how all four books might appear on the shelf and against other books in the same genre of a well-known bookstore. This helped my client visualize the series in real time, and in turn give me a sense of creative direction. I decided to enhance upon the given brief and do away with any unnecessary clutter to create a simple, visually compelling cover with the appearance of an epic novel so as to leave the onlooker intrigued and wanting to go beyond its cover.
