ABOUT
Faced with thousands of film images, we sought an approach to reflect six years of continuous documentation and the photographer’s perspective. The image sequence mimics steelmaking — from fluid narrative to a solid impression of Hangzhou Banshan Steelworks. Color transitions to black-and-white as the lens shifts from large demolition scenes to close-ups of workshops, control panels, and workers’ labor. The view then pulls back, following steel products as they leave the site, with only the towering smokestacks remaining — echoing the book’s opening shot of the tower’s demolition.
