In this exclusive interview, Joe reveals the insights, tools, and inspirations that drive his standout work and why design, at its best, transcends borders.
How did you first get into the industry?
I got into the design industry through a deep passion for visual storytelling and a strong academic background in Computer Art. After completing my studies in Graphic and Web Design in Beirut, I began working with local agencies and gradually expanded my experience to include clients across the Middle East.
My early roles allowed me to explore different sectors, from retail to healthcare, laying the foundation for a versatile and impactful design career.
Where are you based now and who do you work for?

I’m currently based in Abu Dhabi, UAE, working as a Senior Graphic Designer with the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, while continuing to consult and freelance with various clients across the region.
What is your personal background and what role did it play in your career?
Originally from Lebanon, I’ve always been drawn to artistic expression and technology. My education in Computer Art and various design certifications gave me both the technical skills and creative foundation to thrive in fast-paced, multicultural environments.
My background has instilled in me a global perspective and a sensitivity to visual communication across different cultures.
If you weren’t in your current industry, what would you be doing?

If I weren't in design, I would likely be involved in education or creative direction—mentoring aspiring designers and helping brands shape their visual identities from a strategic standpoint.
Can you explain your creative process? What makes it unique?
My creative process begins with deep research and understanding of the client’s objectives, followed by brainstorming sessions that combine mood boards, sketches, and digital mockups.
What makes my process unique is my ability to merge data-driven strategy with aesthetics, ensuring the design not only looks great but functions effectively across platforms.
How would you describe your style?

My style is clean, bold, and intentional. I focus on clarity, visual impact, and emotional resonance. I believe in designs that tell a story and connect with the audience without overwhelming them.
Which individuals do you gain inspiration from? Do you have any heroes in the industry?
I draw inspiration from designers like Stefan Sagmeister for his fearless approach to emotion in design, and Paula Scher for her bold typography and branding work. I also admire regional talents who elevate Arab identity through modern design practices.
What tips would you give to aspiring creatives looking for work?

Keep creating, keep sharing. Build a strong online portfolio, network both online and offline, and never stop learning. Take feedback seriously but don’t let it shake your confidence.
What tips would you give to other professionals to get more clients?
Stay consistent with your online presence. Showcase real project results, ask for referrals, and most importantly, make client satisfaction your best marketing tool.
Can you share a memorable experience from your career journey that shaped your approach to creativity?

One of my proudest moments was when a branding project I led was nominated for the International Design Award. That experience reinforced the value of creative risk-taking and how impactful storytelling and consistency can elevate a brand.
What kind of tools/kit/software could you not do without?
Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro), Figma, and Keynote. These tools help me move seamlessly from concept to execution across digital and print platforms.
What’s your secret to staying inspired and motivated?

I stay inspired by constantly exposing myself to new ideas—whether it’s design books, global trends, or nature. Motivation comes from knowing that good design can influence people’s behaviors and perceptions in meaningful ways.
What’s the work achievement you’re most proud of?
Winning three international design awards over the past three years, including recognition from the World Brand Design Society and the Online Design Awards. These validated my work on a global scale.
As someone with experience in the industry, what trends do you foresee shaping the future of creativity?

The rise of AI-assisted design tools, personalization in branding, sustainability-driven aesthetics, and the continued dominance of short-form content across platforms will reshape how we think about creative work.
What do you think sets apart truly exceptional creatives from the rest of the pack?
Exceptional creatives are not just technically skilled—they’re empathetic, strategic thinkers who understand the bigger picture. They adapt fast, communicate well, and put meaning into every visual choice.
How do you think technology has influenced the creative industries and how have you adapted to these changes?

Technology has democratized design tools and accelerated collaboration. I’ve embraced new platforms like Figma for team workflows and expanded my skillset into animation and digital marketing to stay ahead.
What is the one thing that you would change about the industry?
I’d love to see more value placed on creative thinking, not just execution. Design should be seen as a strategic asset, not just a finishing touch.
