1 Introduction to the ICS library video
A recent project completed in early September 2019 for the Cheque and Credit Clearing Company (Now part of Pay.UK).
I was recommended by a previous employer for the role of creating videos for the business. I had previously done some work for CHAPS which the GM had recognized and was offered an initial 3-month contract.
The business was merging into Pay.UK in the latter half of 2019 and there was a concern that important knowledge about the Image Clearing System (ICS) was going to be lost due to redundancy or documentation would be lost during handover. It was important to identify the key knowledge as early as possible and then map out what was to be captured and saved. I worked with a Knowledge Consulting specialist who handled most of the mapping and interviewing. I did, however, attend several initial interviews of key employees of the business to get an understanding of the business and the service to plan icons as well as prepare branding for use in the videos. It was soon identified that the project was going to be bigger than planned and the contract was extended until the end of August.
The challenge was converting non-scripted audio into visually engaging videos using terminology and phrasing unique for the business and industry. Meaning a lot of research was conducted before and during the project.
This resulted in an icon library that had pre-animated and non-animated icons ready for importing into the project files. This helped speed up the production process. Some icons were never used and some icons were created on the fly depending on what the SME (Subject Matter Expert) was discussing. I was also asked to create videos on how to update and do basic editing to the After Effects files so the business can make minor amendments themselves.
The result was a highly detailed library containing both videos and documents ready for handover to Pay.UK to be used as a resource library for current members of the team that will be transitioning into Pay.UK as well as new members of the team a self-guided learning system and allowing everyone to get up to speed quickly.
Both C&CCC and Pay.UK was very pleased with the final product and we remained for another 2 months to ensure a smooth transition into Pay.UK and help retain knowledge for other teams in Pay.UK.
