This project explores and theorises the cultural, social and economic references Grime artist Skepta has lyrically formed within his landmark track ‘Shutdown’. A ‘Low Visual Culture’ creative direction was taken on the project in order to communicate popular cultures viewpoint that the genre is low culture.

The project explores the linguistic Structure of the track; Exploring form, context and meaning by de-constructing and re-staging the track in print form. This was aimed to showcase how the genre has taken the basic structure of popular culture to create unique cultural references and statements on current political, social and economic topics.
