Code Computerlove Manchester

ABOUT

We are proud to announce that the site has won Sitecore Site of the Year 2012 (Not for Profit).

Oxfam came to Code to transform their digital presence; they wanted to be positioned as an innovator within the charity sector.

The challenge was to effectively communicate with their diverse range of audiences in one centralised location; rationalising content from over 20,000 hand built pages into a contextual content managed experience.

To get there we spent three days of ideation sessions with Oxfam stakeholders, from this we then spent 16 weeks with Oxfam’s internal user experience team assembling customer journeys and wireframes.

The Design process was then broken down into a series of sprints; after each sprint the pages were prototyped and put through user testing. We utilised a variety of persuasion techniques to empower the user to take action and start a conversation by encouraging social sharing.

This was a technically complex solution too. Sitecore was our chosen enterprise-level CMS platform which gave the Oxfam team the ability to customise new areas of the site using a series of layouts and components, which they managed and published through a custom workflow.

Separately, the Oxfam online shop was given an overhaul. Built on Microsoft Commerce Server the shop allows hundreds of Oxfam high street shops to upload and sell unique items through the website.

The new platform has enabled Oxfam to increase on site engagement and gauge greater insight into performance of their digital communications through enhanced tracking and analytics. Significant savings have been made operationally in terms of resource; whilst internal teams have become more independent in delivering changes and new projects.
