I have joined the comic book anthology project in February, when founder and only editor at the time, Andrei Cotrut, was aiming at changing the format of the magazine. Great Snake changed from collection of serialised strip to a comcept driven anthology of stand along stories, featuring artists from all over the world.
My function as co-editor and content editor was not only to edit the submitted scripts but also to look for new talent that can thrive within our new structure but a*lso deliver a great narrative as well as look for guest editors.
The magazine invites each issue somebody from outside the medium of comics, be it a journalist or a social scientist, to craft a concept based on an idea that is very dear to them and in turn the artists have to present their own take on the concept, in the form of a comics strip. We've had concept ranging from surveillance to escapism and for the current issue we have contributing artists and writers from the UK, France, Romania, Bulgaria and China.
We have participated twice in Crack Comics Festival in Rome, one of Europe's largest alternative comics festival and this year we will also take part in Treviso Comics Festival.
