ABOUT

A collection of square calendars and two different sized diaries for retail by both Museums & Galleries and Waterstones.

Diaries: These involved the selection of 12 beautiful and seasonal images resized and retouched to fit into the rectangular format of the diaries. Each diary has an image at the beginning of every month, to showcase the work of the artist/ museum collection. The colour theme of the image is carried throughout the pages for that month of the diary. The layout, typeface and design was specific to each diary, as they were usually for different licensors. Every page had to be amended to show the correct dates and special events for the particular year. For the cover or each diary, the images had to be chosen and cropped to show the best layout for the size of diary. Each diary had to be approved by the appropriate licensor, such as V&A or The British Museum, as well as by Waterstones who were the main customer for a selected range of the products.

Square calendars: As with the Diaries12 beautiful and images were selected, resized and retouched to fit into the square format of the calendar. The dated grid had to be amended to show the correct dates and special events for the particular year. The appropriate title and information for each image was added each relevant page. Again each calendar had to be approved by the appropriate licensor. This year the calendar format was amended so that instead of being wrapped in cello to protect the product whilst in-store, the calendar cover itself would be folded in such a way as to protect it instead, removing the need for any plastic. This was a lengthly process involving many different ideas and solutions and definitely was a team effort! The end result will hopefully mean no extra damage to the product in-store whilst providing a more eco-friendly end product.
